A parliamentarian here on Saturday said the decision of US President George W Bush to send more troops to Iraq was tantamount to a "suicide."
Ahmad Pishbin, a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said that President Bush has run out of options and has therefore decided to send more troops to Iraq.
He has even ignored the views of several members of the US Congress and the US people who had sent a clear message to him in the last election that they were opposed to the war and want the troops to be pulled out, he added.
"Bush's new strategy in Iraq will damage the dignity and influence of the US and Britain," the MP said.
He then urged the Iraqi people to thwart the new US conspiracy.
As to President Bush's admission of mistakes committed in Iraq, he said his policies have not only failed in Iraq but will also fail in other parts of the world.
