Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini here Sunday urged the occupying forces to withdraw from Iraq and the entire region.
Hosseini made the remark while speaking to domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press conference.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran sets no preconditions for helping the Iraqi nation but stresses that the occupying forces should leave Iraq and the region.
"Iran is ready to provide all-out assistance to the Iraqi people. We believe presence of occupiers in Iraq is the main reason behind the country's insecurity and instability," he said.
Hosseini added, "To establish stability and tranquility in Iraq, Iran is ready to cooperate with the Iraqi government in all fields.
On preconditions set by the US for talks with Iran, he said the US is like a drowning (country) which sets preconditions for its rescue, and speaks with a language blended with insult and threats.
Asked about a report by an American research group on Iraq, he stated, "Let's make no speculation in this regard. The US officials, themselves, have not had enough time to examine it from all dimensions.
"We will wait until the US announces its official stance on withdrawal from Iraq and then will express our stance."
