President: Iraqi nation should decide their fate

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA
Iran-Iraq-Ahmadinejad
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Monday that all should let the Iraqi people run their country themselves.

"The Iraqi nation has a 7,000-year-old civilization but some have built up troops there from (regions) tens of thousand kilometers away and are still present in the country under the pretext of Saddam's downfall; Iraq today has an independent parliament, government and Constitution," said Ahmadinejad in an address to a group of people in Shemiranat, a district north of the capital city Tehran.

Also addressing the states having military presence in Afghanistan, Ahmadinejad said, "The states having military forces there (in Afghanistan) are increasing their troops day by day, intending to decide for Afghan people and determine their style of life; this way, they are humiliating the people of the country and are insulting them."

As for Palestine, Ahmadinejad said, "Our nation wants to say that the Palestinian people have the right to live on their own and decide their fate." He said Palestinians like to be entitled to security and welfare but power holders on the globe are following their own sinister wishes and do not consider any right for the Palestinian nation.
