IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Aug 29, IRNA
Iran-Iraq-Asefi
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi here Tuesday expressed Iran's concerns about escalation of insecurity and dispute in Iraq.

He also voiced his regret over destructive role of occupation forces and their failure to establish security in Iraq, saying, "Developments in Iraq during the past week indicated ill intention of foreign forces.

"Unfortunately, foreign forces follow up their own goals instead of providing security and tranquility for the Iraqi people. They have brought about an inappropriate situation in Iraq through their measures and interference."

Asefi said dispute among Iraqi groups would be a threat to the unity of solidarity of the Iraqi nation and urged different groups to remain vigilant at current sensitive juncture.

"Iran hopes unity among all Iraqi political groups and people will be restored through negotiations and an appropriate atmosphere will be created in that country for establishment of security, stability and economic growth through vigilance and convergence," he said.
