Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar on Monday described recently-conducted 'Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)' military exercise as 'successful' and voiced Iran's readiness to conduct joint war games with regional countries.
Iran has successfully test-fired ten missiles, including underwater missile, super-modern flying boat, land-to-sea missile, and a powerful torpedo, during its week-long "Great Prophet" war games that started in the Persian Gulf waters.
Combatants from the navy and air force of the Islamic Republic Army and the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, missile units of the air force and Basij (voluntary forces) took part in the joint wargame.
Some 17,000 combatants along with 1,500 gunboats, jet
fighters, and choppers took part in the wargame.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 7th martyrdom anniversary of the late deputy chief of the Armed Forces
General Command Major-General Ali Sayyad Shirazi, the minister said the success in conducting the military war game made all Muslims around the globe happy and disappointed enemies.
Since the military exercise carried a message of peace and friendship for all countries of the region "We are ready to ink a non-aggression pact with regional countries," he said.
Iran's Foreign Ministry is now following up the issue of such joint military exercises with regional countries, he pointed out.
"Some very good news on peaceful nuclear energy will be disclosed to the Iranian nation soon," he said adding that it should be made known that making use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes is Iran's legitimate right.
To a question on upcoming talks between Iran and US, he said the time and team of negotiators have not been specified yet but it is clear "We seek restoration of the legitimate rights of the Iraqi people and would like the trans-regional powers to leave the country as soon as possible."
"We call for restoration of peace and security to Iraq and the country's security is considered as ours," concluded the minister.
