A katyusha rocket hit near the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in the Iraqi city of Karbala, sources in charge of the holy shrine told IRNA on Sunday.
They said in a telephone contact that the rocket had landed 700 meters away from the holy shrine.
However, the attack left no casualty, but a number of pilgrims were injured, added the sources.
Increasing numbers of pilgrims, mostly travelling on foot, headed to Karbala, 110 km south of capital Baghdad, on the eve of Tuesday's religious ceremony commemorate martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), grandson of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the third Imam of Shiites.
Karbala is under tight security measures by Iraqi police and security troops.
