The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to contribute to any efforts being in interest of Iraq and its security, said Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani here on Friday.

"Iran wishes the Iraqi nation would live in their country without interference of the occupiers," Larijani noted on the sidelines of a meeting with a group of Basiji academics and elite here on Friday.

The talks between Iran and the US on the issue are not on the table, said Larijani, adding, "We will candidly recount to the public the words which should be said."
The core issue is the problems that the occupiers have created in Iraq, said Larijani, adding that Iraqi leaders think they can have an independent state through Iran's cooperation with Iraq's future government.

Larijani ruled out any connection between Iran's nuclear case and its readiness to contribute to settlement of Iraqi crisis.

"At present there is no connection between the issue and Iran's nuclear case," said Iran's top nuclear negotiator.

Iraqi leaders, including the Shiite leader Hakim and President Jalal Talabani, had on many occasions raised the call on Iran, said the official.

Larijani said, "Iran's motive behind assistance to the Iraqi nation is helping establishment of lasting security in Iraq, and helping it get rid of the occupiers' tyranny... and there is no other hidden issue in that connection.

"We insist speaking openly and once again announce that we are ready to help install an independent state in Iraq."
Iran said on Thursday it accepted a proposal by the leading Iraqi Shiite leader Hakim to open a dialogue with the United States on Iraq.
