• Iraq: Senior General's Slaying Raises Questions About Security RFE/RL 07 Mar 2006 -- A sniper has killed a top Iraqi general in Baghdad. Details of the attack are still emerging and there is much contradictory information, but it appears Major General Mubdir Hatim al-Dulaymi died when he was hit in the head by a single bullet as he emerged from his armored car upon returning to his headquarters on March 6.
• Iraq Faces Political Deadlock VOA 07 Mar 2006 -- Iraq's main Shi'ite political alliance has asked President Jalal Talabani to delay the first session of parliament, in order to give the parties more time to break a deadlock over forming a new government.
