Tehran, Dec 16, IRNA
Rafsanjani-Prayers-Remarks
Tehran's Substitute Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani rejected any allegation by the US administration regarding Iran's interference in Iraq.

Making the remark while addressing thousands of worshipers gathered for Friday Prayers at Tehran University campus, he described US allegations against Iran "mockery" and "funny" and said the US with all that 160,000 troops who are engaged in terrorist acts leading to insecurity in the country and disrespect to the nation is now accusing Iran of interfering in Iraq's affairs.

Saying that US policies on Iran are already doomed to failure, he noted that the "US was accusing Iran while it has never arrested even one single Iranian agent in Iraq."
"If Iran is really interfering in Iraq then it would be only natural that at least one out of ten cases must have been discovered.

But they arrest Iranian pilgrims or a driver and then say Iran is interfering in Iraq," he added.

Saying that " The US is the very embodiment of acts which negate religion and diplomatic manners," he noted that as Iran had always expected the US is caught in the dilemma of Iraq.

He further commented that the region could have faced a prolonged calamity if the US had succeeded in Iraq and consolidated its power there.

Referring to the US claims regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear program, the substitute Friday Prayers leader said they themselves are well aware of the fact that Iran's nuclear programs aims at nothing but peaceful objectives.

He described the slogans of " human rights" and " democracy" by Western countries as "a hypocritical weapon" and said, " The world is moving towards democracy, freedom and people's decisive votes".

Referring to the US efforts to expand its dominance and influence in Iraq, EC chairman said, " No nation in the world wants to get rid of an internal autocracy to go under a foreign dictatorship".

The chairman of Expediency Council (EC) called the US efforts to change the UN regulations and structure in its own benefit doomed to failure.

He praised the role of religious authorities in Iraq, especially Ayatollah Ali Sistani, in forming the nation unity and solidarity.
