• Rice: US Welcomes Probe of Charges of Iraqi Election Fraud VOA 30 Dec 2005 -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she welcomes the invitation by Iraq's independent electoral commission to international monitors to review complaints of fraud in this month's parliamentary vote.

• Sunni Arab protests will soon escalate in Iraq as electoral position slips Carl Conetta - Project on Defense Alternatives - 30 December 2005 - Barring special intervention, the final tally of Iraq national council seats won in the 15 December 2005 election will show further deterioration in the relative position of Sunni parties. The Sunni Arab community will find it difficult to accept that 18.5 percent of council seats constitutes fair representation.
