Head of the Judiciary Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi on Tuesday called for setting up a revolutionary court in Iraq and immediate punishment of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
In a meeting with Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi, Shahroudi pointed to Iraqi people's demonstrations in the past several days calling for immediate punishment of Iraqi dictator and said that Iranian people also urge immediate punishment of Saddam by a revolutionary tribunal.
Shahroudi said that he was optimistic about future of Iraq and said that the ominous presence of the occupiers would come to an end to allow Iraqi people to determine their own destiny.
He said that restoration of security is of prime importance for Iraq adding that if Iraq enjoys a strong security establishment itself, many problems from which it is currently suffering would be resolved.
Abdul Majid appreciated Iranian contribution to Iraqi people and said that the Iraqis have currently undertaken administration of their own country by taking part in democratic elections.
