President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that Iran respects national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, President Ahmadinejad said that any action against security and national sovereignty of Iraq would hinder the political process to establish democratic government in Iraq.
"Iran condemns any action against Iraqi national sovereignty," he said.
"We think that the occupying powers are after their political and material gains and they have no incentive to defend interest of Iraqi political and ethnic groups. They do not have concern about shedding blood of innocent people in Iraq," the Iranian president said.
"In principle, Iran is against such an approach with other nations. Invasion against innocent people is a brutal action.
"We strongly condemn mass killing of people and pray to God for saving the nations from tyrants and corrupt people."
He regretted that such mass killing will occur in Iraq as long as occupation continues.
"Vile hands are at work to justify continued occupation. They create tragedy in Iraq every day. They kill worshipers gathered to perform Friday Prayers at noon."
