Interior Minister: 'We regard Iraq's security, interests as ours'

Visiting Iraqi National Security Advisor Mowafaq al-Rubai here Thursday conferred with Interior Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi on issues of mutual interests.
At the meeting, the Iranian minister referred to historical commonalties between the two nations and declared, "We regards Iraq's security and its nations' interests as ours."
The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to establish the most deep-rooted and sincerest ties in various domains with Iraqi nation and government, he said.
Referring to economic and tourism cooperation between the two countries, he said the enemies of both countries seek to make the common borders insecure and take advantage of the situation to promote their evil plans.
"We hope that with the Iraqi government gaining further control over domestic issues, the issues of our joint borders would be resolved," he said.
Iran is ready to fully-broaden cooperation with Iraq on security affairs, he said adding, "Fortunately, there is no organized groups or political wings operating against the Iraqi government and nation in Iran and we even prevent individuals and disorganized groups from engaging in such acts."
He called for implementation of the accords and MoU's signed earlier between the two countries.
The governor generals of Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala are to visit Iranian provinces to explore untapped grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation between the two sides, he said.
Calling the ministerial meeting of Iraq's neighboring countries as significant for consolidation of ties among regional countries, he proposed that the secretariat of the confab be established in Baghdad.
Highlighting the geographical, historical as well as manpower potentials of Iraq, he said "We think that the Iraqi nations can overcome the plots of the occupiers."
The Iraqi official, for his part, called his meetings with Iranian officials as 'very fruitful' and said the two sides nations are determined to further broaden and deepen ties and the occurrence of some minor issues could not harm their will.
Implementation of MoU's signed between the two countries, exchange of pilgrims as well as bolstering of borders security will meet the two sides interest, he said adding, "We believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran has made efforts to maintain Iraq's security and regards our stability and security as hers."
Presence of foreign forces in Iraq is temporary and they should pull out gradually from the country, he concluded.
