Top Aide To Saddam Hussein Reportedly Dies
11 November 2005 -- Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri, a former deputy of Saddam Hussein, reportedly died today.
According to a statement posted on the Internet by Iraq's ousted Ba ' ath Party command, al-Duri died early this morning.
Duri was one of Saddam Hussein's most feared advis e rs and was the most senior member of the former regime still at large.
He was suspected of helping the insurgency in Iraq.
The U.S. was offering a $ 10 million reward for information leading to his capture.
There has been no independent confirmation of al-Duri's death.
