For the second time this year, the German military will send additional soldiers to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to train Iraqi security forces, the army announced in the southwest German city of Koblenz Monday evening.

Some 60 soldiers of the German Pioneer Bataillon 12 will be deployed near Abu Dhabi from October 15 through December 14.

The training of a transport batallion and the deployment of a pioneer batallion have been successfully completed, according to the German army.

Germany's military is training several dozen Iraqi soldiers as auto mechanics and is teaching them how to construct roads and bridges as well as clear explosives and mines.

Berlin has also sent five 100-ton military trucks to the UAE to be used during the training program.

Germany is already training about 220 Iraqi policemen in the UAE and does plan to widen the training program in several phases to 2000 Iraqi policemen over the next few years.
