Iran, Kuwait stress cooperation to restore peace in Iraq

Iran and Kuwait here Wednesday stressed importance of bilateral cooperation to restore stability and peace in Iraq.
Visiting Iran's Interior Minister Abdolvahed Mousavi Lari met with his Kuwaiti counterpart Nawwaf al-Ahmad al Sabah on the sidelines of the 2nd meeting of interior ministers of Iraqi neighboring states.
"(Iraqi dictator) Saddam Hussein was the main problem of regional states and enemy of the Iranian and Kuwaiti nations and the Iraqi people as well. He inflicted heavy damage on Iran and Kuwait," Lari said.
He stressed cooperation of regional states particularly Iran and Kuwait to help strengthen legal government of Iraq and establish peace in that country.
The Iranian and Kuwaiti ministers said outcome of the 2nd meeting of interior ministers of Iraqi neighboring states was effective and called for expansion of cooperation among regional states.
Mousavi Lari arrived in Istanbul on Monday to attend 2-day meeting which ended on Tuesday with issuing a 20-point statement.
The first meeting of Iraqi neighboring states' interior ministers was held in Tehran late November 2004.
The third meeting of the interior ministers on Iraq will be held in Saudi Arabia.
