US, Iraqi forces undertaking security in the Al-Anbar
US marines and Iraqi security forces are undertaking security operations in the Al-Anbar Governorate in western Iraq , Iraqi Al-Sharqiyah TV reported on 29th. It quoted a press release by the multinational forces which said the aim was to purge the area located along the Euphrates between the cities of Hadithah and Hit of "terrorists and foreign fighters". Many people had been arrested in Hit for questioning about weapons caches found in the city, the statement said. The TV also quoted a medical source at Hit Hospital who said the hospital had received the bodies of nine Iraqis killed by gunshot wounds, mostly to the head. Medical sources at the hospital confirmed that US troops had arrested Hit Hospital Director Nizar al-Kubaysi and charged him with treating people who carry out armed operations against them. IRAQI PRESS QOUTES & EDITORIALS, 29 June 05
Foreign Presence in Iraq ; a result of former regime's adventures- Al-Bayan
Al-Bayan [From editorial]
"The presence of foreign troops in Iraq was the result of the former regime's adventures and losing wars against Iran and Kuwait , and its latest war that brought the occupation forces into the country. The political process taking place is the only way to ensure Iraq 's full independence, especially on the security level. Iraqi politicians already managed to snatch significant political gains and met the direct military rule with rejection. Historic achievements were accomplished, most importantly, the 30 January elections from which a parliament and an elected government emerged During the phase, Iraqi people are at another historic juncture of writing a permanent constitution for their country. Moving ahead with the political process can put an end to the foreign military presence by decision of the Iraqi government and people, rather than extremist and terrorist groups."
“Let us root out all hotbeds of terror”- Ishraqat al-Sadr
Ishraqat al-Sadr [ [From commentary by Kamil Murad]
"Let us all, as Sunnis and Shi'is, look among us for the dirty hands that do not hesitate to kill innocent people ... and identify those who feed and fund them No matter how smart and cunning the enemy is, they cannot breach the walls unless there are collaborating groups or individuals inside We know for sure there is a breach from terrorists, darkness forces, strangers and killers within our ranks Thus, the situation should not remain as it is. A change is, therefore, needed Let us first root out all the hotbeds of terror and crime among us. Only then will we be able to easily fight foreign terrorism."
“Arab media failing to convey the truth in their coverage of Iraq 's events” -Al-Bayan
Al-Bayan publishes a column by Salim Rasul strongly criticizing Arab media, especially the satellite television channels, for failing to convey the truth in their coverage of Iraq 's events. The writer believes that these channels "are trying to influence the course of political developments rather than portray actual events." For example the Arab media had wagered on the failure of the 30 January elections in Iraq and President Bush in the US elections.
“The need for "reconstructing" the political attitude in Iraq ” Al-Adalah
Al-Adalah carries an article by Muhammad Sa'id al-Makhzumi discussing the need for "reconstructing" the political attitude in Iraq on the following levels: the Islamic political thought, cooperation among all political groups, single party mentality, and the nationalistic mentality. The writer says that there will be no democracy in Iraq unless Iraqis "realize that democracy is accepting one another." Al-Sabah al-Jadid runs an editorial by Chief Editor Isma'il Zayir commenting on the talks carried out by the US Administration with Iraqi "armed groups." The author says that this is a "healthy sign" of the "flexibility" that will lead to a better political future for Iraq .
