IRAQI PRESS QOUTES & EDITORIALS, 30 May 05

Al-Adalah [From commentary by Muhammad al-Abdallah]:

"We say it clearly: He who has chosen the margin or who marginalised himself has no right to blame others The freedom that ensures his right to shout at others on TV screens is the same freedom that could have secured him a place other than the margin Those who are fond of marginalisation excuses should face the fact courageously. They have to admit they have lost this round and that there will be other rounds. Democracy means there is always a chance to enter the track"

Al-Bayan [From commentary by Nasif al-Nasiri]:

"There is a common denominator agreed by all the forces that took part in the election, namely, the national interest dictates overlooking the election rights in a way that gives assurances to all the components and gets them actively involved in running the state affairs and drawing its future. In return, such keenness and high sense of national responsibility should in no way mean acceptance of conflicting means or contradictory ends, which can harm the political process. Rather, it means that such broad participation should stand on a basis of clear stands rejecting violence and terrorism and supporting the elected government plans to restore security, stability and rule of law throughout the country."
