Poland to withdraw "several hundred soldiers" from Iraq by summer
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, March 11, IRNA -- Poland will pull out "several hundred soldiers" from Iraq by summer, Polish Defense Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski has said. A hardline supporter of the US war in Iraq, Poland had recently reduced its 2,500-men troop contingent in the war-stricken country by 800 soldiers. Szmajdzinski had announced earlier that Poland would be ready to keep its troops in Iraq until the expiration of its UN mandate by the end of this year. Since October 2003, Poland leads a multi-national force in Iraq which oversees a mainly Shi`a region. OT/2329/1432
