Directions to Austin Gate
Get on the highway to the Baghdad Airport. As you come up on the US military base on the right, before you get to the check point one inspection area and before you get to the winged statue you will be able to see the tall cinder block/concrete wall that surrounds the base.
In this area about 500 meters before you get to the winged man statue there is a dry stream bed with reeds and tall grass growing in it on the right side of the road. There is also a culvert that goes under the road. You must turn right off of the highway onto a dirt road right after you pass this seasonal streambed with reeds.
This dirt road has many hundreds of vehicles a day so it is very pronounced. The road will take you to the big cinder block/concrete wall and then you will travel for approximately 500 meters with the wall on your left. The wall will then turn to the left and you must stay on the dirt road with out turning off of it. There are several junctions but you must stay on what looks to be the most traveled road. Soon the road rejoins the concrete wall and there will be another wall on the right as well; keep following the road as it meanders around eventually turning to pavement and soon you will be at Austin Gate.
Captain Tate will be waiting at Austin Gate for you. He can be reached at 0790-141-3487.
