MAY ARTICLE 32 HEARING CONCLUDES, DECISION PENDING
CAMP AL-TAHREER, Iraq - In the Pre-trial Article 32 hearing for Spc Brent W. May, one final witness for the prosecution was questioned and then closing statements were made by both the defense and prosecution here today.
May is being charged with one count of premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of submitting a falsified official statement.
Both the defense and prosecution were given until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday to submit written objections. Once all court proceedings have been transcribed, the Investigating Officer will have time to deliberate the facts. The Investigating Officer then has 72 hours after receiving the transcripts to provide a written recommendation to the General Courts Martial Authority.
A decision is expected whether or not to proceed to trial on or before the 12th.
