Water Treatment Plant Opens

Al-AHABAB, Iraq - Soldiers from Task Force 1st Battalion, 77th Armor attended the official opening of the Al-Ahabab water treatment plant on Nov. 30.

"This is a great accomplishment for the citizens of this village," said Lt. Col. David S. Hubner, TF 1-77 Commander. "They deserve to have clean drinking water."

While Nov. 30 was the official opening of the plant, it has actually been running for almost a month. The plant, which filters water directly from the Tigris River, will provide clean water for an estimated 2,000 people.

The plant was built in 1978, but hasn't been running for years.
