• IRAQ / BLAST VOA 29 Dec 2004 -- the latest attack targeting Iraqi security forces, police in Baghdad say insurgents lured police to a house in the west of the capital and then set off hundreds of kilograms of explosives as they entered the home. Seven policemen and 22 civilians were killed in the blast, which shook the city late Tuesday.
• First Infantry Division Soldiers Detain two in Raid MNF-I/MNC-I 29 Dec 2004 -- First Infantry Division Soldiers captured two individuals during a raid near Balad at about 3:45 p.m., December 28.
• Task Force Danger Soldiers Detain One After Attack Near Baqubah MNF-I/MNC-I 29 Dec 2004 -- Task Force Danger Soldiers detained an individual wanted for murder in a raid near Balad at about 11:05 p.m., December 28.
• Explosion Rocks Western Baghdad MNF-I/MNC-I 29 Dec 2004 -- A large explosion in northwestern Baghdad killed at least 22 people, including four Iraqi policemen and injuring at least 10 others. The blast, which damaged 10 buildings, occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.
• Iraqi Security Forces Defeat Insurgent Coordinated Attacks, MNF Detains 18 MNF-I/MNC-I 29 Dec 2004 -- Iraqi Security Forces decisively defeated three separate attacks by anti-Iraqi insurgents as they attempted to seize two police stations while Multi-National Forces from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) detained 18 people suspected of anti-Iraqi activities during other operations on Dec. 28 in northern Iraq.
• Marines seize weapons cache, 2 Detained MNF-I/MNC-I 29 Dec 2004 -- A security element of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit detained two individuals after seizing a sizeable weapons cache while conducting security and stabilization operations on Dec. 28.
• 31st MEU Foils Insurgents' IED Plans; Attacked from Mosque MNF-I/MNC-I 29 Dec 2004 -- In a continuing effort to disrupt insurgent activities in the Al Anbar Province, elements of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit located and destroyed numerous improvised explosive devices placed near the towns of Sa'dah and Karabilah Sunday.
