• Soldiers Detain Five AIF For Attacks Near Khalis; One Detained Near Balad MNF-I/MNC-I 03 Dec 2004 -- First Infantry Division Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment detained five suspected anti-Iraqi force insurgents near Khalis, on Dec. 3 at about 6:00 a.m., for attacks against Multi-National Forces and Iraqi Security Forces.
• Northern Babil operational update: Marines encouraged by performance of Iraqi National Guard MNF-I/MNC-I 03 Dec 2004 -- A nine-day offensive aimed at flushing out insurgents south of Baghdad ended Dec. 1 with the capture of 21 suspects in a series of raids by Iraqi security forces and U.S. Marines.
• Fallujah Findings Give Evidence of International Law Violations Washington File 03 Nov 2004 -- Evidence that mosques, hospitals and cemeteries were used by insurgents in Fallujah as battlegrounds from which to attack Iraqi and multinational forces was presented by the Pentagon December 3.

Rumsfeld said during a Dec. 2 interview on "The O'Reilly Factor" program on Fox News Channel.
• Powell Sees Elections as Key to Defeating Insurgency in Iraq Washington File 03 Dec 2004 -- Secretary of State Colin Powell says he hopes the Iraqi people will see their interests represented through elections and the formation of a National Assembly, not violent insurgency, reiterating his position that Iraqi elections should be held as scheduled on January 30, 2005.

• Findings of US team confirms UN analysis of Iraq's weapons programme UN News Centre 03 Dec 2004 -- The United Nations commission that was in charge of disarming Iraq of weapons of mass destruction says the conclusions of a CIA report largely confirm the analysis reached by its own inspectors.

• U.S.-Iraq-Aid VOA 03 Dec 2004 -- U.S. international aid officials said Friday their reconstruction program in Iraq is making good headway despite security problems and lack of media coverage of its successes. The 18 billion dollar program is by far the largest ever undertaken by U.S. Agency for International Development, A.I.D.
• Iraq Reconstruction Passes 1,000 Project Milestone 03 Dec 2004 -- The Iraq Project and Contracting Office (PCO) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that the U.S. government has surpassed the 1,000 construction start mark one month ahead of their year-end goal. The reconstruction team has delivered 1,051 construction starts to-date.
• Iraq Reconstruction Making Gains Despite Insurgency AFPS 03 Dec 2004 -- Although headlines citing insurgent attacks tend to overshadow its efforts, U.S.-led reconstruction initiatives in Iraq continue to make progress, a senior U.S. official noted here today.
