The hostage's family have held a mass for her in Kenmare in the Irish capital Dublin [as heard; Kenmare is in County Kerry].
[Reporte] The news of the killing of the British-Iraqi hostage Margaret Hassan, a humanitarian aid worker, has caused an angry reaction on the Iraqi street. After the hostage's husband learnt of her killing, he called on the hostage-takers to hand over her body or tell him where it had been left.
[Iraqi citizen] This is a terrorist act. This act has been carried out by criminals. They are inhumane, and are not true Muslims or Iraqis. This woman did good things during the days of the old regime, following up humanitarian issues and aiding the Iraqis. She made great efforts at that time.
[Second Iraqi citizen] Her work was humanitarian. We are all pained by her killing. No human should do this. We all condemn this criminal act.
[Reporter] Margaret was of Scottish origin. Her mother was Irish. She was 59 years old. She had been married to an Iraqi for 30 years and was a psychology teacher.
Observers of events in Iraq confirm that the killing of Mrs Margaret is a hideous crime whose aim was to hinder the country's progress within the series of kidnappings carried out by people of unknown affiliation and identity.
