Blair facing 101 questions on Iraq war

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

London, Sept 6, IRNA -- Plaid Cymru (Welsh nationalist) MP Adam
Price is planning to step up his campaign to charge Prime Minister
Tony Blair with culpable negligence over the Iraq war when
parliament returns this week from its summer recess.
According to the Cardiff-based Western Mail Monday, the Welsh
nationalist MP is tabling 101 written questions for Blair`s office
to answer in an attempt to clarify some of the "discrepancies" on
Saddam Hussein`s claimed weapons of mass destruction.
"We are asking for the evidence for the statements he made,
because there must have been some basis for his statements. We want
him to tell us what it was," said Adams, who is spearheading the
campaign to impeach the prime minister over the war.
He said that it would be "very difficult" for Blair not to answer
the questions.
"They are specific questions on issues of fact. It will be very
interesting to hear what he has to say as some of the discrepancies
are so obvious," he said.
Price also expressed confidence that the small number of MPs who
have already offered to support his attempt to impeach the prime
minister would increase as MPs return from their holidays and
suggested a further meeting to plan the move may be held next week.
His campaign website, impeachBlair.org, reported last week that
tens of thousands had logged on to check the prime minister`s "Case
to Answer," causing the site to crash because of the massive
interest.
The re-elected Scottish Nationalist leader, Alex Salmond, who is
supporting the campaign, said that the level of traffic should be
heavy as "real public support to bring the Prime Minister to account
for his actions in Iraq and in particular for taking the country to
war was based on a lie."
"People have had enough of the establishment cover ups to get the
Prime Minister off the hook for lying to Parliament. It is now time to
ensure that Blair is answerable for his actions in misleading the
country and Parliament," he said.
