Iraq's Minister of State says the trials of former dictator Saddam Hussein and his top aides will begin in coming weeks.
Kasim Daoud made the announcement to reporters during a visit to Kuwait City Sunday.
Mr. Daoud said Saddam will be tried by the Iraqi courts and denied that U.S. officials will have any involvement.
In a preliminary court appearance in June, the former dictator was accused of seven charges, including killing various leaders, a 1988 chemical attack on Iraqi Kurds and the 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
