Beirut, Sept 5, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- An international conference on Iraq is `the optimum way of settling the Iraqi problem`, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after Sunday negotiations with his Lebanese counterpart Jean Obeid. He said, "While discussing Iraq, Russia and Lebanon agreed that consensus of all parties, neighbors, the LAS and the UN Security Council is necessary against the background of remaining tension. "Russia stands for comprehensive settlement on all tracks in the Middle East on the basis of the roadmap and UN Security Council resolutions," Lavrov said. He singled out the Palestinian-Israeli track and noted that Lebanese-Israeli and Syrian-Israeli tracks of the Mideast settlement were also important. "It is necessary to ensure sovereignty and sovereign rights of all parties," Lavrov said. Being an active participant in the international mediating quartet, Russia `will carry on this policy`, he added. Lavrov said that positions of Moscow and Beirut were identical on all regional problems they had discussed. /2322/1432
