A Kuwaiti transportation company says it is stopping work in Iraq, bowing to demands from kidnappers holding seven of its employees.
Kidnappers from a group calling itself the Holders of the Black Banners have held the Kenyan, Indian and Egyptian truck drivers hostage for more than one month. The kidnappers recently said they would free them if their employer stopped operating in Iraq.
A spokesman for Kuwait and Gulf Link said the company now has no presence in the country.
Meanwhile, Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has condemned the killing of an Italian journalist held hostage in Iraq, and vowed to keep Italian forces stationed there.
Al-Jazeera Arab television said it received a videotape from a militant group named the Islamic Army apparently showing the execution of journalist Enzo Baldoni. The group had demanded Italy withdraw its troops from Iraq.
