India Rules Out Direct Talks with Iraq Hostage Takers

India says it will not hold direct talks with the kidnappers of three Indians abducted last month in Iraq.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, E. Ahmad made the comment to the parliament Wednesday and added that India will not pay the kidnappers ransom.

The abductors have repeatedly extended their deadlines for killing the Indian hostages, captured July 21 along with three Kenyans and an Egyptian.

The Kuwait-based trucking company the hostages worked for began negotiations with an Iraqi mediator last month, but few details have been released.
