Iraq PM refutes allegation Iran interfering in country`s internal affairs
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Najaf, Aug 14, IRNA -- Iraq`s Interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said Iraq is not accusing the Iranian government of interfering in the country`s internal affairs. If there are any complaints, they are pointing to unofficial figures, Allawi told IRNA here Saturday. He did not elaborate on who the unofficial figures could be. Iranian border guard officials said last week that the adoption of necessary measures have curbed illegal border crossings between the two countries. Some individuals penetrate Iraqi territory through neighboring states and that is true for Iran, too, Allawi said. Thousands of enthusiastic Iranian pilgrims were able to legally or illegally visit Iraq`s holy sites after the fall of Saddam Hussein`s regime and who were barred from making those pilgrimages during his rule. Iranian pilgrims do travel to Iraq under the auspices of Iran`s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization. 2327/2321/1432
