165 Iraqis killed in Najaf clashes, reports Health Ministry

Baghdad, Aug 13, IRNA -- Recent clashes in the city of Najaf have so far left 165 Iraqis killed and 600 wounded, Iraq`s Ministry of Health reported in a statement on Friday. The Ministry added that all those killed and wounded were Najaf residents. Meanwhile, sources told IRNA that leaders of the al-Mehdi Army of the Iraqi cleric Moqtada Sadr and the the US-led forces are continuing talks to find a way to transferring the wounded to hospital. The bodies of the injured are currently trapped under the heavy fire of US forces and supporters of Moqtada Sadr and there is no way to transfer them to hospital. 1405/2330/1432
