The Iraqi Interior Ministry has dismissed as "stupid" a report in a local newspaper that nuclear warheads were found near Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit.
A senior U.S. military official also said he had no information on the report, but he added officials were still checking.
The Iraqi newspaper al-Sabah reported that warheads were found when officials arrested a senior member of the former ruling Baath party.
The United States and Britain launched their invasion of Iraq last year, largely over intelligence showing that Saddam had amassed weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons have been found.
