Thousands of Iraqi Kurds have marched in the northern town of Halabja to demand the death penalty against Saddam Hussein for a chemical attack in 1988.
Protesters say they want the trial and execution of the former Iraqi leader to take place in the town where an estimated 5,000 people died.
They also are demanding that Ali Hassan al-Majid (also known as Chemical Ali) be put to death for ordering the gas attack on Kurdish villagers.
Last week, the former Iraqi dictator appeared in court to face charges in the Halabja attack.
He is also accused of killing political opponents and religious figures during his rule, and for ordering the brutal suppression of Kurdish and Shi'ite uprisings after the 1991 Gulf War.
