Rafsanjani criticizes US one-sided policy towards Iraq

Tehran, May 18, IRNA -- Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani here Monday said one-sided policy adopted by Washington regarding Palestinian and Iraqi issues has resulted in lack of confidence of the World of Islam, particularly the Iraqi people, towards the US officials. In a meeting with the Head of Kuwaiti Judicial Council Abdallah Ali al-Alessi, he stressed that the enemies are attempting to sow discord among different Iraqi religious sects and tribes. Rafsanjani urged the Iraqi ulema and officials to help establish unity and solidarity among the Iraqi people. On Tehran-Kuwait growing ties, he said exchange of visits between the two countries` senior officials will lead to further expansion of all-out ties between the two states. For his part, the Kuwaiti official referred to the Islamic Republic as an important country in the region which plays a key role in regional developments. Conveying the oral message of Kuwaiti prime minister to Rafsanjani, al-Alessi said his country is seriously determined to promote ties with its friend country, Iran. The Islamic Republic plays a crucial role in establishment of regional peace and tranquility, he added. The Kuwaiti judicial official, heading a delegation, arrived in Tehran Saturday. 217/211
