COURT MARTIAL SET FOR MAY 19
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Lt. Gen. Thomas F. Metz, the commanding general of III Corps, has referred charges against Spc. Jeremy Sivits to a Special Court-Martial empowered to adjudge a Bad Conduct Discharge on May 5.
The three charges against Specialist Sivits are: conspiracy to maltreat subordinates (detainees); dereliction of duty for negligently failing to protect detainees from abuse, cruelty and maltreatment; and maltreatment of detainees.
The court-martial, U.S. v. Specialist Jeremy Sivits, is docketed for May 19.
Subject to final coordination and approval, the trial will be held at a location within the Convention Center in Baghdad.
Court-Martials are open to the public. Details on procedures to be used by media covering the proceedings will be provided at a later time.
