Germany-based US troops told to head back to Iraq: daily
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, April 15, IRNA -- Some Germany-based American soldiers who only recently arrived at their home military bases in Germany after completing a one-year-long deployment in Iraq, have been told to head back to the war-stricken country, the website of the European edition of the US military daily Stars and Stripes said Thursday. US soldiers of the 1st Armored Division, headquartered in the southwest German city of Wiesbaden, as well as the 2nd Army Brigade, located in the southwest German town of Baumholder, have been ordered back into the combat zone, according to the report. The recall occurs as US military officials are finalizing plans to shore up forces in Iraq in a desperate effort to quell down the Iraqi people`s uprising. American-led troops have encountered fierce resistance over the past week around the Iraqi town of Fallujah as well as in the Shiite-controlled areas in South Central Iraq. OT/217 End
