Blix labels Bush, Blair "witch hunters" over alleged Iraqi WMD
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Feb 17, IRNA -- Former United Nations chief weapons inspector Hans Blix lashed out at United States President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair for alleging banned Iraqi weapons used to justify the Iraq war, branding the Anglo-American leaders as "witch hunters". "We have said before the war that there had been no evidence for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq but they have ignored it," Blix told Tuesday`s issue of the Mannheimer Morgen newspaper. "If you believe in witches, then every coffee cup is proof for something. And they were witch hunters and are shouldering now the responsibility," he added. Blix whose inspectors departed Iraq on the eve of the war after only a few months of inspections, has repeatedly said that he believed firmly Iraq had destroyed its weapons of mass destruction back in 1993. 2051/214 End
