- Scores Killed In Attack On Kurdish Parties In Iraq RFE/RL 02 Feb 2004 -- Officials in northern Iraq say two suicide bombers killed at least 56 people and injured at least 235 others in a simultaneous attack today against Kurdish political parties that are allied with U.S.-led coalition forces.
- 4TH INFANTRY DIVISION CONTINUES OPERATIONS CENTCOM Release 01 Feb 2004-- Soldiers on patrol from the 173rd Airborne Brigade discovered a cache 16 km west of Tuz during the evening of Jan 29. The cache consisted of 78 120 mm mortar rounds, 103 82 mm mortar rounds, 48 60 mm rounds, 15 rocket-propelled grenades, 22 grenades, and one complete 120 mm mortar system. This cache had been buried in a sealed, water proofed bunker. The soldiers destroyed the cache in place.
- Suicide Attacks on Kurdish Offices Kill 56 in Northern Iraq VOA News 01 Feb 2004 -- Twin suicide bomb attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil have killed at least 56 people and injured more than 200 others. Officials say the casualty figures are expected to rise further.
