Two UK soldiers injured in blast in southern Iraq

LONDON, Jan. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- The British Ministry of Defense said on Sunday that two British soldiers sustained slight injuries when a roadside bomb exploded close to them in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.
The troops were on routine patrol when the explosive device detonated around 0600 GMT on Sunday, a spokesman for the ministry said, adding that the two soldiers only suffered very minor cuts and bruises.
The incident occurred after a car bomb exploded on Sunday morning outside the headquarters of the US-led coalition in Baghdad.
At least 16 people have been killed and dozens more wounded in the most deadly suicide bombing in Iraq since former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was captured by US forces in northern Iraq in December.
