Germany to help train Iraqi police in UAE
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Jan 16, IRNA -- Germany, along with France and Japan, will help train Iraqi policemen in the United Arab Emirates, the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung quoted German government officials as saying on Friday. German Interior Minister Otto Schily is scheduled to visit the UAE over the next days to clear the details of the Iraqi police training programme, according to the report. Meanwhile German government officials did not rule out the possibility of also participating in the US training programme in Jordan where more than 30,000 police officers will be trained in eight-week courses. Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, a strong opponent of the US war in Iraq, has repeatedly voiced his willingness not only to train Iraqi police but also fund the training programme. 2051/215 End
