COALITION FORCES FIRED UPON IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS RECENTLY
CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar - Iraqis fired at Coalition forces at three separate locations recently.
Coalition civil engineers were shot at today while working in a gas-oil separation plant in the Ramaila oilfields. Three occupants in a white-pickup truck drove by and reportedly opened fire on the engineers. There were no injuries.
Coalition soldiers as part of the security force were in the area at the time, but did not return fire.In Fallujah late this morning, Iraqi civilians throwing rocks and firing weapons attacked a convoy. The convoy returned fire, and the crowd was dispersed by the arrival of Coalition helicopters.
Coalition forces were securing a school in Fallujah April 28 when youths began firing weapons during a demonstration. The youths were said to be demonstrating to withdraw U.S. forces from the school in the town.
In each case, Coalition forces exercised their inherent right to self-protection in accordance with the rules of engagement.
The number of casualties in the incidents is unknown at this time.
