V Corps Soldiers Wounded in Unexploded Ordinance Accident (UXO)
CAMP VIRGINIA, KUWAIT (Apr. 17, 2003) Three V Corps soldiers were wounded by unexploded ordinance on Wednesday while conducting a patrol. Three Iraqi's, who wanted to show the US patrol an area of munitions that had not been cleared, approached the patrol. The patrol followed the Iraqi's to the site, which had UXOs. One Iraqi approached the UXO too closely, which resulted in the UXO exploding.
One Iraqi was killed and the two other Iraqis were wounded.
All soldiers were evacuated through aid stations.
The incident is currently under investigation.
