COALITION FORCES TARGET PARAMILITARY FORCES IN AR RUTBAH
OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM - Coalition forces struck a gathering of paramilitary forces taking shelter in an unused prison in the town of Ar Rutbah, in western Iraq, at 4:30 p.m. EST March 30.
The paramilitary forces are used by the regime to maintain control of the population and to oppose Coalition forces. Battle damage assessment is ongoing. Coalition forces target only lawful military targets and go to great lengths to minimize civilian casualties and damage to civilian facilities.
