FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COALITION AIRCRAFT STRIKE COMMAND AND CONTROL, INTELLIGENCE FACILITY

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM - Coalition airmen kept the heat on the Iraqi regime Saturday evening with more precision bombing of regime control facilities in western and southern Baghdad.

In two key strikes, the Coalition used satellite-guided munitions to target command and control facilities at the Abu Garayb Presidential Palace and two facilities at the Karada Intelligence Complex at approximately 3:30 p.m. EST.

The palace, located east of the Saddam International Airfield in western Baghdad, is one of the facilities used by the Hussein regime to command and control forces.

The Karada Intelligence Complex is located in the Karada District on the banks of the Tigris River in southern Baghdad. It's one of the intelligence facilities used by the Hussein regime to direct military intelligence operations and to coordinate the oppression of internal opposition.

Battle damage assessment for both strikes is ongoing. Coalition forces target only lawful military targets and go to great lengths to minimize civilian casualties and collateral damage.
