F-18 STRIKES IRAQI MISSILE LAUNCHERS
OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM - Two United States Navy F/A-18C attack aircraft targeted and struck three Al Samoud missile launchers at approximately 8:00 a.m. EST. The missile launchers were approximately 25 miles northwest of the Iraqi city of Basrah, which is located 240 miles southeast of Baghdad.
The strike was carried out with precision-guided ordnance to continue to degrade Iraq's ability to strike Coalition forces, the Iraqi people, or neighboring countries.
Target battle damage assessment is ongoing. Coalition aircraft target only lawful military targets and go to great lengths to minimize civilian casualties and collateral damage.
