The United States on Thursday (March 27) conveyed its thanks for South Korea's support for its war on Iraq, Cheong Wa Dae said.
During a luncheon with President Roh Moo-hyun at Cheong Wa Dae, U.S. Ambassador Thomas C. Hubbard expressed his government's appreciation of President Roh Moo-hyun's decision to send a military contingent of 700 civil engineers and medics to aid the U.S. in their military campaign in Iraq.
The troop dispatch has yet to be endorsed by the National Assembly.
The two also confirmed the joint stance on the peaceful settlement of the North Korean nuclear crisis.
According to National Security Advisor Ra Jong-yil, who attended the luncheon, the two also discussed the telephone conversations between Roh and U.S. President George W. Bush, and Vice President Dick Cheney.
Cheney is scheduled to visit Seoul next month and Roh is expected to visit Washington for a summit with Bush in early May.
