UN biological weapons teams carry out more inspections in Iraq7 March As the Security Council met today to hear an update of the inspection process in Iraq and wrestled with how to proceed with the disarmament of the country, United Nations monitors continued their activities on the ground.
In Mosul, a biological weapons team from the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) inspected the maintenance department of the railway station as well as a branch of the Mesopotamia State Company for Seed Handling.
A second biological team, meanwhile, supervised further excavations at Al Aziziyah Airfield and Firing Range, where Iraq says it destroyed R-400 bombs. The team took samples from the remainders of the containers that Iraq has stated had been used to transport biological agents.
