Free Iraqis Discuss Future Role of Media
(Discussions held at State Department in Washington February 19-20) (210) Following is a notice to the press from the State Department in Washington February 20 about discussions on the future role of the media in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein: (begin text) U.S. Department of State Office of the Spokesman February 20, 2003 Notice to the Press Future of Iraq, Free Media Working Group Meeting The first session of the Future of Iraq project working group on Free Media is convening on February 19-20, 2003 in Washington, DC. At this session, about 25 "Free Iraqis" will discuss the role of the public and private sectors in the media, including organization, ownership and regulations; the freedom and responsibilities of media professionals; and media education.
