Text: "Free Iraqis" to Discuss Future of Iraq's Oil and Energy Resources

The State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs will host 15
"Free Iraqis" January 31-February 1 in Washington to discuss Iraq's
oil and energy sector, according to a January 29 press notice.
This discussion is part of a second session of the Future of Iraq's
Oil and Energy Working Group.
According to the press notice, the 15 Iraqi participants along with
several international experts will discuss "the current state of
Iraq's oil and energy sector; scenarios for the repair and restoration
of the oilfields and other essential energy infrastructure; and ways
to address management of the energy sector to best meet the needs of
the Iraqi people."

NOTICE TO THE PRESS
Future of Iraq, Oil and Energy Working Group Meeting
The Department of State is pleased to announce that the second session
of the Future of Iraq's Oil and Energy Working Group will convene on
January 31-February 1, 2003 in Washington, DC.
At this session, the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs
will host approximately 15 "Free Iraqis" and several international
experts for continued discussion of the current state of Iraq's oil
and energy sector; scenarios for the repair and restoration of the
oilfields and other essential energy infrastructure; and ways to
address management of the energy sector to best meet the needs of the
Iraqi people.
